About Me – Tom from Tom’s Tours

My name is Tom Hogeling, born and raised in the Netherlands. For years I ran several businesses there, but over time I felt a growing need for freedom, nature, and adventure. Sitting behind a computer or working in a factory no longer fulfilled me – I was ready for something real.

In 2022, my partner and I decided to make a big change and move to Portugal with our two children. We eventually settled in the beautiful area around Aljezur. We immediately fell in love with the rugged coastline, the cliffs, the trails, the food, the space – and of course, the ocean. Our children now go to a forest school and grow up surrounded by nature. Compared to the concrete world we came from, this feels like a breath of fresh air.

The first years in Portugal, I spent my time building our home, a new life and slowly settling into this new world. We’re lucky to be part of a warm and adventurous community here.

​

After a few quiet years of renovation and reflection, I felt the urge to start something new that truly energizes me.
Offroad driving, being outside, traveling, exploring nature and sharing meaningful places with others, that’s what I love.

​

And so, Tom’s Tours was born.

A way to combine my love for wild landscapes with my passion for creating memorable experiences. With my Land Rover Defender, I’ll take you along remote beaches, cliffs, forest tracks, rivers and viewpoints places you wouldn’t easily find on your own. Along the way we might stop for a nice local lunch, go for a swim, take a short walk (if you like), or just pause for the view.

Each tour is completely private, and with a maximum of 8 passengers, I keep it personal, relaxed and flexible.

​

I have a few favorite routes, but I always enjoy shaping the day together with you.
